1 dead in North Texas house fire, officials say

Fire crews battled a one-alarm house fire in Roanoke, officials told WFAA.

ROANOKE, Texas — One person has died in a house fire in Roanoke, according to city officials. 

A spokesperson for the city of Roanoke told WFAA that fire crews were dispatched to a one-alarm fire at approximately 8:45 a.m. Friday, with the first engine getting to the home nearly five minutes later. The fire happened at a home in the 400 block of Ashley Lane, officials said. 

Fire crews did not know upon arrival whether or not the home was occupied and it was fully engufled, officials told WFAA. Roanoke fire crews immediately started to attack the fire and were assisted by Keller, Southlake, Trophy Club, and Westlake Fire. 

A 44-year-old man who resides there was not at the home at the time of the fire, Roanoke officials told WFAA. Roanoke Fire is working alongside the Roanoke Police Victim Assistance team and Red Cross to assist with the displaced man.

Ashely Lane between Richy Road and Randy Road remained closed throughout the investigation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by RFD and the Tarrant County Fire Investigation Association.

The name and age of the victim will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner pending positive identification, officials said.
