Police arrested a Denton police officer following a report of a disturbance Monday morning.
According to Denton police, the woman called the police to report that Denton Police Officer Eric Beckwith allegedly assaulted her.
A patrol officer and a supervisor, who conducted an investigation, responded to the call at about 5:30 a.m. Police said there was probable cause and arrested Beckwith on a charge of assault causing bodily injury, family violence. He was transported to the City of Denton Jail, where he awaits an arraignment by the magistrate.
The woman sustained a minor injury that did not require immediate medical attention.
Officer Beckwith has been placed on administrative leave pending the completion of the continuing thorough criminal and internal investigations.
