City of Denton appoints Jessica Robledo as the permanent Chief of Police

The newly-instated chief has over three decades of experience in law enforcement.

DENTON, Texas — The City of Denton announced Thursday that Jessica Robledo, who has been serving as the Interim Chief of Police since April 16, has been appointed as the permanent Chief of Police, effective immediately.

In a press release, the City of Denton said Robledo has demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication and commitment to enhancing public safety.

Robledo has over three decades of experience in law enforcement. She served with the Austin Police Department for 30 years, where she retired as an assistant police chief and then served four years as the Chief of Police in Pflugerville, Texas.

In addition to her experience in local communities, Robledo served as the Executive Chair of the Texas Police Chiefs Association and Vice President of Law Enforcement Executives of Central Texas.

“As we continue our work in creating a safer community, Chief Robledo has the relationships and leadership to successfully lead our police force,” City Manager Sara Hensley said in the press release. “We are confident that she will continue to lead with the same dedication and integrity that has marked her tenure as Interim Chief. She truly values and respects the profession, her staff, and our community, and I know that we will be able to work together to stand up for and protect Denton’s values.”

In conjunction with her appointment, the Denton Police Department is inviting community members to the inaugural Denton Police Chief’s Run on Friday, Sept. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Quakertown Park.

At the event, community members will celebrate the graduation of the department’s 20th Training Academy class and have an opportunity to meet with Chief Robledo and local officers.
