Denison police officer, who succumbed to leukemia, to be escorted home from Love Field

Officer Will Deering lost a short battle with leukemia in Utah last week. Today, his body will be brought back to North Texas.

DENTON, Texas — A special escort will transport the body of a fallen Denison police officer home from Love Field Airport today, the Denison Police Department announced. 

Officer Will Deering died after a short battle with leukemia Aug. 17 while visiting Utah, the department said in a press release. 

"Officer Deering will be remembered not only for his service but for the kindness, courage, and compassion he brought to every aspect of his life," the release states. "He was more than a colleague; he was a husband, a father, a friend, a mentor, and a source of strength for all who knew him."

His body will arrive at Love Field at 2:35 p.m. where he will be escorted home. While officials did not release the procession route, Denison is located about an hour and a half north up U.S. 75 from Dallas.

"We honor his memory by continuing to serve with the same dedication and selflessness that he exemplified every day." the release states. "His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the difference he made."
