The VA North Texas Health Care System evacuated its building after a suspicious package was reported on the premise.
Dallas Police are assisted VA Hospital Police with this issue.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., the suspicious package was cleared and it was determined that the package did not pose a threat. The investigation is ongoing.
A spokeswoman with the VA provided WFAA with the following statement:
“On March 27, 2017 staff reported a suspicious device to VA Police. VA North Texas HCS activated its emergency operations plan and as a precautionary measure evacuated certain outpatient areas of the Dallas VA Medical Center’s Clinical Addition building. In coordination with VA North Texas HCS, the Dallas Police Department’s Bomb Squad and Dallas Fire & Rescue Hazmat teams are on onsite assisting with this incident.”
