Dallas police looking to identify man's body found in Trinity River

Police say someone saw the man floating in the river on Jan. 18. He has multiple tattoos and an amputated right hand.

Dallas police say a man found in the Trinity River had this moon crescent tattoo on his right shoulder with the name "Anthony Luna."

DALLAS — Dallas officials are calling for help to identify a man whose body was found in the Trinity River last month.

Police say someone called them after seeing the man floating in the river on Jan. 18. The department released a description of him along with photos of multiple tattoos.

The man was believed to be either white or Hispanic, according to police. He was 5 feet 7 inches tall and had a "surgically amputated right hand," police said.

The following four tattoos are shown in pictures from Dallas police:

  • The name "Anthony Luna" around a smiling crescent moon on his right shoulder
  • "Jose" on left hand knuckles 
  • Rosary on his left hand and arm
  • Woman on left side of his torso

Anyone with information about this man should call Forensic Investigations at 214-920-5900 and select option 1.
