DALLAS — A multi-vehicle crash shut down southbound U.S. 75 heading into Dallas and left one person injured early Friday morning, officials said.
The southbound lanes were shut down at Spring Valley Road, which is near the Richardson-Dallas line, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. A traffic camera at the scene showed police responding to a crash and diverting traffic off the highway.
Police responded to the crash around 5:30 a.m. and say Dallas Fire-Rescue took one person to the hospital, but no fatalities or serious injuries were reported.
The highway was reopened after about an hour, shortly before 7 a.m.
The incident was causing a heavy traffic backup near one of the busiest roadways in North Texas, the High Five interchange of 75 and Interstate 635.
Drivers were being allowed to return to the highway just before 635, but another wreck at U.S. 75 and Midpark was causing more backups.
Greenville Avenue, which runs parallel to 75 just east of the highway, was an alternate route for drivers looking to avoid the traffic mess through Richardson.
Rain across North Texas was causing slick roadways, but it wasn't yet known if weather played a factor in the crash.
