DALLAS — A man who pleaded guilty in the shooting death of a 21-year-old woman after a basketball game in Dallas in 2022 has been sentenced to prison, according to court documents.
Cameron Hogg, who was 31 when the shooting happened last year, took a plea deal for 20 years in prison, the Dallas County court documents said.
Hogg was arrested in October 2022 in the shooting death of Asia Womack.
Womack on Oct. 3, 2022, was found fatally shot on a sidewalk in the South Dallas area near South Fitzhugh Avenue and the Dos Equis Pavilion. Hogg was arrested a week later.
Before Hogg's arrest, Womack's family members said the James Madison High School grad was walking home from playing basketball when the shooting happened. According to them, witnesses claimed it was over a dispute after the game.
“He needs to pay for what he did. Because that was senseless. That was uncalled for,” Smith said.
On Tuesday, court documents were filed in Dallas County that included details of Hogg's plea deal and the fact that he pleaded guilty in the case.
