Man shot during Deep Ellum attempted car burglary, Dallas police say

The owner of the car was taken to Baylor Scott & White hospital in Dallas and is expected to survive, police said.

DALLAS — A man was shot during an attempted car burglary in Deep Ellum early Thursday, police said.

The incident happened around 12:15 a.m. near Malcolm X Boulevard and Main Street. A witness told police that a silver Chevrolet Camaro was getting broken into. The owner of the Camaro walked up, shouted at the suspect and was then shot, police said.

The suspect left the scene, leaving the car behind. The owner of the car was taken to Baylor Scott & White hospital in Dallas and is expected to survive, police said.
