IRVING, Texas — A Dallas police sergeant was arrested on domestic violence accusations in Irving on Sunday, police officials said.
Ruben Lozano, who was off-duty when the alleged incident happened in September, was taken into custody on charges of unlawful restraint and family violence, according to a news release from Dallas police officials.
An affidavit from Irving police says Lozano's wife alleged that he physically assaulted her at their home in Irving on Sept. 26.
Lozano's wife told police that her and Lozano "had a verbal argument regarding his infidelity," according to the police affidavit. She said Lozano allowed her to go through his phone but then asked for the phone back.
She said Lozano then chased her through the home, and when she tried to leave, he stopped her, according to the police affidavit.
The affidavit said Lozano grabbed his wife's arm multiple times, pulled her back inside the home, and "continuously closed the garage as she pressed the button to open the garage."
Two days later, the affidavit said, Lozano's wife "observed multiple visible injuries" on her arms, thigh and back and went to file a police report.
Lozano has been with the Dallas Police Department since 2009. He is assigned to the Central Business District in the downtown area. Police officials said he has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an Internal Affairs investigation.
More information about the case was not released on Monday.
