DALLAS — A teen suspect allegedly involved in two murders has been arrested, the US Marshals confirmed to WFAA.
Pablo Veliz, 17, is a suspect in two murders, one in 2024 and another in 2023, Dallas police said in a statement Thursday. He was 16 at the time of the shootings, police said.
Veliz was taken into custody on Monday, June 17.
The first shooting occurred on May 2, 2024. A teenager, identified to WFAA by his mother as Isaac Aguirre, was fatally shot and two other people were injured during a fight after a crash in Dallas.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. at the intersection of North Masters Drive and Carolina Oaks Drive, according to investigators.
Police said that a minor crash happened at the intersection. After the crash, people not involved in the crash began fighting. At some point, police said, someone started shooting and hit three people.
Isaac was taken to a hospital, where he died.
A second victim was shot in the foot and taken to a hospital for treatment. A third went to the hospital on their own for minor injuries, police said.
The second offense occurred on December 11, 2023. Dallas police responded to a Mesquite area hospital after a shooting victim was transported there in a private vehicle.
The victim was identified by his mother as Aarzo Jones. Jones died from his injuries.
"I don’t know how to even move forward without him," Aarzo's mother, Katherine Borders cried.
"It’s been like just living a nightmare…over and over again every day."
Katherine told WFAA her son did not know Veliz. They had a mutual friend who had an altercation with Veliz, and Jones was there. He was innocent she said, and engaged to be married. He was killed just one week before his 28th birthday.
"They need to get [Veliz] off the streets before another family has to endure the pain and suffering that we have," she told WFAA.
"I’ll never have an opportunity to have grandbabies and to witness him being a father...Being his mom is the greatest gift I could ever ask for, and I’m still his mom," she continued.
"Losing a child is the hardest and the most painful thing," she sobbed.
Crimes Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information called in that leads to Veliz’s arrest and indictment. You can call Crime Stoppers at 214-373-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online at P3tips.com, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
