DALLAS — A multi-vehicle crash knocked down an overhead sign on Interstate 45 near downtown Dallas, closing the highway's northbound lanes Friday morning, officials said.
The crash happened on I-45 near Interstate 30 around 11:30 a.m., according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
Officials expected the northbound lanes to be closed for 6-8 hours as crews worked to get the sign disassembled and removed from the road.
The Dallas County Sheriff's Office said 4-5 vehicles were involved in the crash, but more details weren't released. There were no initial injuries reported.
Traffic cameras at I-45 and Good Latimer showed what appeared to be signage across the roadway. The poles that hold up the highway signs were laid across the roadway.
There was also an ambulance and fire truck at the scene, and traffic was being diverted off the highway at Lamar Street.
More information was not immediately available. Traffic was heavily backed up heading into the downtown area.
