Chuy's is leaving its longtime Dallas location, but it's not going far

Chuy's, which has locations scattered across the Metroplex and Texas, has been in business at the corner of McKinney and Knox since 1993.
The Austin-based Tex-Mex spot will soon be under new ownership.

DALLAS — Chuy's is leaving its longtime Dallas location off Knox Street, but it won't be moving far. And there won't be an interruption in service.

The Austin-based Tex-Mex restaurant confirmed it plans to close its Knox-Henderson spot, located at 4544 McKinney Ave., in April 2025. And when the doors close there, new ones will open the same day at Chuy's' new location on Lower Greenville, the company said in a statement.

"We look forward to welcoming longtime fans and new guests alike in our stunning new atmosphere," Chuy's officials said.

The Dallas Morning News reported that the specific location along Greenville is 1520 Greenville Ave., the former site of Desert Racer.

Chuy's, which has locations scattered across the Metroplex and Texas, has been in business at the corner of McKinney and Knox since 1993, according to the Dallas Business Journal.

As of July, there were 101 Chuy's locations in 15 states across the U.S., such as Arkansas, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia and Alabama.

Chuy's is going through a period of change at the moment: Last month, Darden Restaurants, the parent company that owns Olive Garden among other restaurant chains, announced a $605 million deal to acquire Chuy's Holdings Inc.

"We are excited about the opportunity to join the Darden family and its portfolio of well-respected brands," Chuy's CEO, president and chairmen Steven Hislop said at the time. "Darden shares many of our same core values, particularly our operating philosophy and strong team member cultures."

The Orlando, Florida, based restaurant operator owns multiple popular eateries, including Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, Eddie V's, Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen, Bahama Breeze and more.
