DALLAS — A fire at a Dallas apartment building has displaced nine people from one apartment and forced other residents to relocate, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR).
The fire was reported shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday at a two-story apartment building on Chapel Creek Drive.
When firefighters got to the scene, they saw smoke and flames coming from the building.
Crews pulled out their hoses and started an offensive fire attack. They then found most of the fire coming from the building's attic space.
The fire was eventually put out.
DFR officials said the flames destroyed part of the building's roof. No injuries were reported.
According to officials, the building had four apartments, three of which were occupied.
Officials said the fire-damaged apartment had nine residents who were displaced. The American Red Cross was called to help with the residents' needs.
The two other occupied apartments sustained water damage. Residents in those units were relocated to other apartments at the site.
Investigators believe the fire was an accident and was likely the result of an electrical shortage in the attic.
