DALLAS - Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle's last day started off with some sweating.

Monday morning, the soon-to-be retired chief took part in the department's CrossFit workout, which was called The Commish in honor of Kunkle.

Kunkle led the Dallas Police Departement for over five years. Under his tenure, the crime rate dropped dramatically.

In the midst of all the controversies and battles and disputes, you never really know how people see you, he said. I've been surprised. The reaction's been much better than Iwould have expected.

Kunkle will now be be a part time consultant at the University of North Texas. Assistant Chief David Brown will be sworn in as the new chief Tuesday.
