DALLAS — Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, and Dallas' Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade have been postponed due to inclement weather next Monday.
Collin County has also postponed its March for King Parade.
A strong cold front is set to arrive Sunday evening which could send temperatures into the teens.
ERCOT, the operator of Texas’ power grid, has also issued a weather watch. ERCOT has emphasized that grid conditions are expected to be normal, though, and it has not called for energy conservation.
The City of Dallas and Grand Prairie has rescheduled the parade to take place on Saturday, January 20. The City of Fort Worth postponed its parade to Monday, February 19. Plano's parade will take place on March 2.
The City of Denton has also postponed its MLK parade. Denton Parks and Rec posted on Facebook that the celebration is rescheduled to Feb. 24 to coincide with its Black History Month Program.
Collin County have not yet announced when it will reschedule its parade.
The NAACP posted a statement on its website, "We are eager to march together in the spirit of unity and justice, and we look forward to sharing this experience with you in the days to come."
Hundreds of floats, bands, drill teams, local businesses, and community leaders are registered to march in the Dallas parade that is scheduled to begin and end at Fair Park. Find details about the MLK parade and a map of the route here.
The parade will start at Fair Park Gate 6 at MLK Jr. Boulevard and Robert B. Cullum Boulevard. It will proceed down MLK Boulevard to Atlanta Street turning south, then turning east on Pennsylvania Avenue returning to Fair Park.
This year’s parade and rally is the Greater Fort Worth Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Committee’s 39th event. It usually begins at the Convention Center and ends with a rally at Sundance Square and Plaza. You can find the latest updates on the event online here.

WHERE CAN YOU CELEBRATE THE MLK PARADE?
Despite the anticipation for chilly temps, officials in Garland say they're still planning to host their annual parade. It's happening Saturday at 10 a.m. in Downtown Garland. You can find the parade route here.
Also, The Neighborhood MLK Parade in Fort Worth is still scheduled to take place. It's happening Saturday, Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. at the William McDonald YMCA and will end at Village Creek Park.
Saturday's MLK Community Parade is different from the Fort Worth City MLK Parade which was scheduled to happen Monday.
Jasmine Ward and her team spent Friday morning putting together their float for Saturday. They represent the non-profit called Black Ladies in Public Health located in Arlington.
This is their first time building a float so they watched YouTube and TikTok videos to get ideas. Organizers and parade participants urge people to bundle up, line the parade route, and enjoy the sights and sounds.
"Don't let the weather stop you because it's going to be a pretty nice day. We have a lot to look forward to and as my grandmother used to say, if you can feel the cold, you are still living, so, come on out," said Ward.
