DALLAS — The city of Dallas named Michele Andre its new director of the Office of Community Police Oversight on Friday.

Andre, who has eight years of experience in public administration and police oversight management, is coming from her position as the program manager of the Albany, New York Community Police Review Board.

In her previous role, Andre played a vital part in the development of fair disciplinary standards, investigations into misconduct and complaints, and ensuring the review process was impartial.

Dallas City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert said in a press release that Andre's proven track record will allow her to strengthen the city's oversight and collaboration with stakeholders.

"This opportunity allows me to bring my passion for equitable policing, transparency and accountability to the vibrant Dallas community,” said Andre. “I look forward to working collaboratively with stakeholders to build trust and drive positive change."

Andre will begin her tenure with the city of Dallas on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
