DALLAS — The Dallas ISD Police Department will soon have a new police chief.
DISD just hired Al Martinez, the first assistant chief of the Dallas Police Department, to assume the role.
Previously a finalist for the DPD Police Chief job a few years ago, Martinez also led security for the Catholic Diocese of Dallas before coming back to DPD when Chief Eddie Garcia asked him to become an executive assistant chief.
Martinez currently oversees DPD's Investigations and Special Operations Bureau.
His last day at DPD will be Feb. 13, and he will begin his new role on Feb. 14.
