IRVING, Texas — Yaser Said again denied killing his two teenage daughters in 2008 in a new true crime show.
Said is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the shootings of Sarah and Amina Said in 2008.
Said's daughters Sarah, 17, and Amina Said, 18, were found dead in 2008, slumped in Said's borrowed taxi as it was parked in front of the Omni Hotel in Irving. Their deaths been described as so-called "honor killings" -- because they believed Said was upset that his daughters had been dating outside the Muslim faith.
Before his arrest at a Denton County home in 2020, Yaser had been on the run for more than 10 years and was on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list.
Speaking for the first time since his conviction, Said’s the subject of the second episode, called “Honor Killings” of the Court TV series “Interview with a Killer,” that airs at 7 p.m. CST Sunday.
As in the trial, Said alleges in the new interview that his arrest and prosecution are part of a conspiracy.
“My case is being used to achieve cheap political points,” Said says in the show.
The show also features footage from Said’s trial in 2022 and videos of his daughters.
Prosecutors during his trial painted a picture of Said as angry and controlling over his daughters. Prosecutors also replayed Sarah's 911 for jurors, where she says her dad shot her. During his own testimony, Said denied killing his daughters.
Days before her death, Amina reportedly told her teacher she and her sister were running away because they feared their father.
“I know that he will search til he finds us and he without any drama or any doubt kill us,” the email said.
Amina and Sarah were described as intelligent girls who dreamed of being doctors.
