Want to get rid of your election signs? Here's where you can recycle them in North Texas

Through the end of the month, residents can recycle their signs at any of the City of Dallas' three transfer stations.
Polls close at 7 p.m. in much of North Texas.

DALLAS — With the elections finally ending Tuesday night, many residents will have election signs that no longer serve a purpose. So the City of Dallas has a way to get rid of them responsibly.

Through Nov. 30, residents can recycle their plastic yard signs and metal stakes at any of the city's three transfer stations during normal drop-off hours for residents.

The three stations and their hours are here:

Northwest (Bachman) Transfer Station
9500 Harry Hines Boulevard
Monday - Saturday, 7 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Northeast (Fair Oaks) Transfer Station
7677 Fair Oaks Avenue
Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. Saturday, 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Southwest (Westmoreland) Transfer Station
4610 S. Westmoreland Road
Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. Saturday, 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.

If residents can't bring them to these stations, they can bag them and place them in their gray rollcart for normal trash collection.

Cardboard signs can be put in blue recycling roll carts, but corrugated plastic signs and metal stakes must be recycled at the transfer stations. Plastic film should be thrown away or recycled at retail locations accepting plastic bags.

Residents outside of Dallas should contact their local waste management authority for guidance on recycling options and proper disposal.
