DALLAS — The Dallas Police Department is currently investigating an accidental shooting incident that happened Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting was first reported to police around 4:25 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 200 block of W. Overton Road.
Dallas police say a two-year-old was involved in an accidental shooting and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. As of Monday, Aug.12, the toddler was in stable condition, DPD said.
In 2023, 36 unintentional shootings by children in Texas resulted in 14 deaths and 23 injuries, according to data from Everytown For Gun Safety.
Police said no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
