DALLAS — A second robbery and burglary suspect surrendered in Northwest Dallas Saturday morning hours after an accomplice turned himself in.
Dallas police spokesman Sgt. Warren Mitchell said the two men entered an "8-liner" gaming establishment at the Plaza Latina Bazaar at 11200 Harry Hines Boulevard around 3 a.m. Saturday. The men — one brandishing a long-barreled weapon, the other carrying a handgun — began to rob customers.
"One of the patrons was able to make a 911 call out for police," Mitchell said.
The suspects fell through the ceiling of an adjoining suite, Mitchell said. He said Saturday afternoon that police believe the suspects were in the ceiling to hide from officers. It was first believed the suspects climbed through the ceiling to rob other establishments, Mitchell said.
The customers were able to escape as a SWAT team surrounded the 78,000 square foot Plaza Latina building.
Mitchell said one of the suspects surrendered just before 9 a.m. and was being questioned by investigators. The other, who was thought to still be hiding inside, was taken into custody less than 90 minutes later.
The men will be charged with multiple accounts of aggravated robbery, and police said additional charges are possible pending investigation.
The names of the suspects have not been released.
