Pleasant Grove is getting its first coffee shop

Originally a pop-up coffee stand, the new coffee shop blends Mexican culture with a dash of nostalgia.

PLEASANT GROVE, Texas — In Pleasant Grove, Café Ciro is making history as the first coffee shop set to open in the community.

Originally a pop-up coffee stand founded by Britany Guereca, this unique idea has quickly become a local sensation, blending Mexican culture and flavors with a dash of nostalgia.

"I've always wanted to open my own coffee shop—that’s always been my dream," said Britany, who named the café after her grandfather, Ciro. "He made a huge impact in my life... I wanted to do something to honor what he's done for me."

Café Ciro’s claim to fame is its inventive menu, featuring Mexican candy-inspired drinks that went viral on social media.

"I wanted to make something out of all the sweets that reminded me of back home," Britany explains.

From Mazapan lattes to Ganzito coffees, the unique flavors have drawn crowds, with fans flocking to taste a bit of home in each cup.

"I just want to pour a little bit of what I love into a cup of coffee every single time," Britany said.

Britany’s parents have also joined the venture, making Café Ciro a true family affair. Her mom now crafts mini pancakes, and her dad brings chilaquiles—a family recipe he holds dear.

“My dad used to work construction... he left construction, he does this full time now. My mom used to clean houses, left that, and now she does it,” Britany said. It’s a testament to living the American dream via Mexican coffee.

Café Ciro’s mission is about more than coffee—it's about accessibility. The café has a bilingual menu, and its staff speak both Spanish and English, creating a welcoming space for all.

Britany is also committed to uplifting local businesses.

"I started to grow a following... little by little, other businesses launched their own," she says.

Café Ciro’s night markets have attracted thousands, offering a platform for minority-owned businesses to thrive.

"We just want you to go out there and support the small vendors," Britany says.

Café Ciro is about uplifting family, culture and community.

Café Ciro will open up its shop in Pleasant Grove early next year.

The next night market they are hosting for small vendors will be Dec. 8 at Fair Park.  Be sure to keep updated about their pop-ups on their Instagram account @thecafeciro
