Passenger killed in Northwest Dallas crash

The driver was arrested on suspicion of DWI
A young woman who was a back-seat passenger was killed when a utility pole fell on the car in Northwest Dallas on November 1, 2014.

DALLAS — Police said one person was killed and another was taken into custody following a deadly one-car crash in Northwest Dallas early Saturday morning.

Investigators said 20-year-old driver Emmanuel Gonzalez was speeding, lost control of his white Infiniti sedan, and hit a utility pole in the median of the 10900 block of Webb Chapel Road.

The pole toppled, killing an 18-year-old woman in the back seat of the vehicle. A 19-year-old man sitting next to her was hospitalized with injuries, but was expected to survive. A front seat passenger was not injured.

Gonzalez, who was unhurt, was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
