DALLAS — Looking for a job ahead of the holidays? Nearly 6,400 jobs will be available at a job fair in Dallas this week.
Nearly 150 employers will participate in the 13th-annual “Red White and You” job fair at Gilley’s Dallas. The job fair, hosted by Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas, the Texas Workforce Commission, the Texas Medical Center and the Texas Veterans Commission, will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 6 at 1135 Botham Jean Boulevard.
While veterans, service members, military spouses, members of the National Guard and Reserve and their family members will be first in line, the job fair is open to the public.
“With nearly 150 employers, including over 50 that are background friendly, this is a great opportunity for Dallas County residents to find employment or upgrade your current job before the holiday season,” said Dallas County Judge Clay Lewis Jenkins. “If you are stuck in a dead-end low-wage job, 'make money moves' and 'come see Clay.’ There are likely employers hiring for your same position but paying higher wages and offering better benefits. For the 6,400 job openings at this event, the median wage is $35 an hour with top wages reaching $60 an hour.”
The jobs include full-time, part-time and seasonal positions in logistics, education, healthcare, transportation, manufacturing, hospitality, and more. Participating employers include DART, Dallas College, Dallas County, the City of Dallas, Canadian Solar and Austin Road & Bridge.
Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas has eight centers across Dallas County that provide opportunities for job training, workplace education, childcare and educational initiatives. For more information, visit their website here.
