DALLAS — The newly-created Dallas Music Office is working to bring live music to the streets of Dallas.

The Dallas Music Office, an extension of Visit Dallas and the Texas Music Office, launched this summer to serve as a hub for artists, venues and music enthusiasts for education, collaboration and growth for Dallas’ music scene.

Now, the office is kicking off its new busking initiative to bring live music to public spaces in Dallas. It begins with a busking artist showcase Sept. 19 at Club Dada in Deep Ellum. The event will start with a networking happy hour at 6 p.m. and feature performances by eight artists beginning at 7 p.m. Each will perform three or four songs.

The featured artists include Sam Cormier, Joshua Stone, Gracen Wynn, Remy Reilly, Dorian Marsh, David Arvisu, Erfan Ebadipour and Jon Fig.

“I love how Dallas Music Office is bringing back busking,” said Remy Reilly, a singer/songwriter involved with the project. “Live music is a huge part of Dallas, however, you see less and less of it on the streets. With the new busking performances, I believe it will bring a lively atmosphere to the city!”

The busking initiative officially launches in January and auditions opening for musicians to perform across the city from March to December.

“The Busking Initiative opens the door between our Dallas community and local entertainers and musicians by connecting the city-goer and artist like never before,” said Erfan Ebadipour, a musician involved with The Busking Initiative.

The project is inspired by New York City’s Music Under New York program and organizers say they hope to establish and reinforce Dallas as a “Music Friendly City.”

The Dallas Music Office will also use social media (you can find them on Facebook, X and Instagram as @dallas_sounds) for networking, partnerships, sharing facts about the Dallas music scene and highlighting local artists.
