DALLAS — A man wanted for murder in Dallas surrendered to police early Sunday after an hours-long pursuit.

The incident started in Rice, a small town in Navarro County, when a man identified as Romaun Wilkerson led police on a chase that continued for almost 50 miles north on Interstate 45 into Dallas County.

At times, Wilkerson, 34, was said to be driving his white coupe at speeds of more than 100 mph.

He turned north on U.S. 75, exited at Hall Street, made a U-turn, got on Woodall Rogers Freeway, pulled in front of the Dallas County Jail, and turned himself in.

Wilkerson was wanted in connection with Friday's shooting death of 33-year-old Lawrence Lise during a dispute over a vehicle. Lise's brother was also shot, but survived.

Wilkerson was being held without bond on Sunday morning.
