DALLAS — Multiple people who work at Harlowe MXM, a popular restaurant and bar in Dallas's Deep Ellum neighborhood, told WFAA that they were informed on Wednesday that the venue has shut its doors.
Those staff members told WFAA that the establishment's last day of service was on Sunday, December 10.
According to Harlowe's website, the business usually opens at 4 p.m. on Thursdays. When WFAA went to the location during those stated regular business hours, it was indeed closed.
In November, two young women announced their intention to seek legal action against the establishment after alleging that they were drugged during a night out there.
Employees told WFAA that managers cited multiple reasons when sharing news of the closure with staff, and added that they said the allegations "didn't help."
WFAA has reached out to the family that owns Harlowe MXM, and is still waiting for a response.
In response to the initial allegations, Harlowe MXM owners Cindy and Jim Hughes provided WFAA the following statement: "Our contracted security company and management team have been interviewing staff, viewing video and trying to come to some sort of conclusion as to what may have happened. We have operated restaurants in Dallas for thirty years, and have never experienced a situation remotely resembling this."
The Hughes family also owns Henry's Majestic in Dallas. They were the original owners of the popular Bread Winners Café & Bakery chain before selling it late last year.
