DALLAS — Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a two-story house fire in Far North Dallas on Thursday afternoon, officials say.
Firefighters were called at about 2:44 p.m. to the home, located in the 16700 block of Village Lane.
Upon arrival, officials say they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the home. And flames had already begun spreading to a neighboring home.
Firefighters were able to deploy handlines and make short work of the fire, officials said, putting it out completely at about 3:38 p.m.
Both homes were undergoing varying degrees of construction or renovation, officials said. As there were no occupants in either home, there were no injuries to report.
Investigators say the fire was accidental in nature, beginning due to a heat source igniting combustible material behind the home. Specifically, officials say sparks from welding being done on a fence caused a nearby balcony to catch fire.
