DALLAS — WFAA chopper footage of a building fire in northwest Dallas Thursday afternoon showed heavy smoke coming from the roof of the building.
Crews were called to the Rainbow Hardware building in the 10000 block of Harry Hines Boulevard shortly after 2 p.m., records show.
Investigators say workers were using a flammable adhesive while doing roof work on the building that was ignited by an unknown heat source, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.
"Workers tried using extinguishers to suppress the flames, but the winds on the roof were high and caused the fire to spread rapidly beyond their control," Dallas Fire-Rescue said in a statement.
Officials say no injuries were reported, the damage was isolated to the roof and the fire was extinguished shortly after 2:30 p.m.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.
