The FBI on Thursday issued a $20,000 reward for the Irving cab driver suspected in the 2008 shooting deaths of his two teenaged daughters, which the bureau has classified as 'honor killings.'
On Jan. 1, 2008, investigators say Yaser Abdel Said told his daughters Amina, 18, and Sarah, 17, that he was taking them to dinner in Irving. He's accused of fatally shooting them inside his cab.
According to this Associated Press report, family members told the FBI that Said felt his daughters shamed him by dating non-Muslims. These types of honor killings, the AP reported, happen 5,000 times globally each year.
Said, meanwhile, hasn't been since 2008. He was last spotted in Irving. He currently has a capital murder-multiple federal warrant and another for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
The Egypt-born Said is 56-years-old, 6'2'' tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has a medium complexion, brown eyes and black hair, although the feds note 'physical features may vary in order to conceal his identity; he may or may not wear a mustache or shave his head.'
Said may visit communities with Egyptian ties. He's known to frequent diners such as Denny's and IHOP and smokes Marlboro Light 100s. It's possible he's making a living driving a cab.
He does have ties to the Dallas-Fort Worth Area, the FBI notes. Said should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call the Dallas FBI at 972.559.5000. All tips are anonymous.
