GRAND PRAIRIE -- Grand Prairie police said they have a suspect in custody in connection with a shooting incident at an office building at 2080 North Highway 360 Tuesday afternoon.
The victim was seriously wounded in the 2 p.m. gunfire; he died later at a hospital.
After the shooting, police scoured the building. Tenants were ordered to lock their doors and remain in place during the search.
"That's why you're seeing officers search the area; that's why you're seeing helicopters and things like that," said Grand Prairie police spokesman Officer Mark Beseda.
Police determined that the gunman was no longer on the premises. He was apprehended around 5 o'clock.
Beseda said the suspect appeared to have knowledge of the building and that it did not appear to be a random incident.
Concordia University, which has offices in the building, said it has relocated Tuesday evening classes to the Hyatt Place hotel.
