DALLAS — At the Dallas Fire-Rescue Training Center, sketched portraits of their fallen firefighters line the walls.
Seventy-seven Dallas firefighters have died since 1902. However, there are only 74 portraits.
"We've got three left," said David Lindsey, a retired Dallas firefighter. "We just can't seem to find good pictures of those guys where we can put them before a sketch artist and have them make a drawing."
Lindsey is hoping to connect with family members or friends who can provide a good photo for the department. It doesn't have to be a photo in a fire uniform, but at least one they can present to an artist to draw.
J.A. Covington died September 15, 1908.
"His job was to wire up the pull boxes on the street and he got electrocuted on a power pole," Lindsey said.
Henry G. Hodges died on December 24, 1912.
"He got a big fire down in the South Dallas area off of Pennsylvania Street and he contracted pneumonia," said Lindsey.
Captain Glenn R. Briggs died on March 28, 1925.
"They were actually loading hose on the back of a fire engine and they got hit by a driver."
