DALLAS — Editor's note: While Dallas police initially reported Olivia Mendez's age as 9, the Dallas County Medical Examiner's office reported her age as 8.
Police have identified the three drivers have been charged in a street racing crash that killed a 8-year-old girl Friday night in Dallas.
Diego Gaytan, 27, Hector Camarena, 28, and Ricky Jackson, 62, each face one count of causing death and three counts of racing causing serious bodily injury, second-degree felonies.
Police say the three men were racing one another Friday night on Lake June Road when one of their cars struck a Chevy Impala as it crossed the street.
Upon impact, the Impala spun several times, and 8-year-old Olivia Mendez was thrown from the back seat and out of the car. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Another child in the car suffered critical injuries, police said.
Jackson remains in the Dallas County jail in lieu of $200,000 bail. Camarena remains jailed in lieu of $200,457 and is held on unpaid tickets.
Gaytan's bail has been set at $120,000. He also remains jailed on an immigration hold.
