2 killed in house fire in North Texas, officials say

DESOTO, Texas — Two people died in a house fire in DeSoto Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The DeSoto Fire Department and DeSoto police responded to a fire at a home on Canyon Ridge Drive at 2:33 p.m. and found the home unsafe to enter, according to a news release.

Firefighters contained the fire despite extensive damage and no other homes were damaged and no one else was displaced, according to officials.

“The City of DeSoto expresses its profound sorrow for the loss of life in this tragic incident and extends heartfelt condolences to the families affected. As a community, we stand together in support as we mourn this loss,” officials said in a news release.

DeSoto officials are collaborating with 1-800-BOARDUP to assist the families impacted.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the DeSoto Fire Marshal’s Office.
