DALLAS — A 36-year-old was killed in a shooting early Saturday morning, according to a press release from the Dallas Police Department.
Officers responded to a call reporting the sound of gunfire at about 5 a.m. on Nov. 9 in the 1900 block of Pacific Avenue, according to the release.
Police said that, upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered the body of a man who had suffered a gunshot wound. Dallas-Fire Rescue later responded to the scene as well and pronounced the man, later identified as Ian Walsh, dead.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner later ruled Walsh's death a suicide.
In the wake of his passing, members of the Dallas service industry community, of which Walsh was a beloved member, have organized a GoFundMe to help his family cover the costs of his funeral. Since being posted, that effort, which had a stated goal of reaching $2,500, has raised more than $6,000.
A memorial service for Walsh was held Monday, November 18.
