Dozens of people displaced following fire at Dallas apartment complex

WFAA chopper footage from the scene showed smoke billowing from the scene.

DALLAS — Dozens of people have been displaced following a fire at a northwest Dallas apartment complex Thursday afternoon, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the fire at the Stone Manor Apartments at 3116 Park Lane shortly before 1:30 p.m.

Dallas Fire-Rescue says the fire “almost immediately received a 2nd-alarm response (at 1:32 p.m.) due to fire reported as coming through the roof of an apartment building.” WFAA chopper footage showed heavy damage to the roof of the apartment complex and smoke billowing from the scene.

Records show the fire went to a third alarm shortly after 2 p.m. By 2:48 p.m., Dallas-Fire Rescue reports the fire was under control.

Dallas-Fire Rescue told WFAA they did not take anyone to the hospital, but they did evaluate two people for minor injuries.

According to DFR, 14 apartments were damaged in the fire, and 48 people have been displaced. DFR is investigating the cause of the fire.

The Red Cross has opened a shelter at the Bachman Recreation Center, 2750 Bachman Dr., for the affected families.

This is a developing story. WFAA will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
