DALLAS — Crews responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) train close to Ledbetter Station on Monday afternoon.

Dallas Fire-Rescue was called to the crash near the intersection of S. Lancaster Road and E. Ledbetter Drive in southern Dallas shortly before 4:30 p.m., call logs showed.

Responding investigators said the driver of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition after being extricated from the vehicle.

"Among the units assigned to this call was DFR’s Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team, because the driver of the vehicle was reported as being pinned," Dallas Fire-Rescue said in a statement. "However, USAR was quickly disregarded, as the first arriving truck and engine companies were able to extricate the driver of the vehicle before they arrived."

As a result of the crash, DART said it's using a single track in the area near Ledbetter Station, which is causing five- to 10-minute delays on light rail commutes along the Blue Line.

Additional details about the cause of the crash or how it happened were not immediately available.

This is a developing story. WFAA will update this story as additional information becomes available.
