DALLAS — Dating in 2024 isn't what it used to be.
A recent report from WalletHub says that nearly 46% of the U.S. adult population is unmarried (meaning never married, divorced or widowed), according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
In a lighthearted effort to help those singles find their match, WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 35 metrics related to "dating-friendliness," ranging from the share of the population that is single to the number of online dating opportunities available to the average price for a two-person meal at local restaurants.
Turns out, cities across DFW metroplex aren't exactly prime dating locations.
Across the nationwide list at large, Atlanta came in as the best city for singles, and Pearl City, Hawaii, was at the bottom of the 182 cities ranked.
In Texas, Austin was the highest ranked Texas city at No. 10, and Brownsville was the lowest at No. 180.
Specifically here in North Texas, Dallas was highest-ranked city, but only came in around the middle of the overall pack, ranking No. 90 nationally. Fort Worth was the next highest-ranked area city, ranking at No. 110. The other DFW cities included in the list were placed more toward the bottom: Irving (No. 129), Arlington (No. 146), Plano (No. 148), Garland (No. 168) and Grand Prairie (No. 175).
