DALLAS — Cuteness explosion alert. The Dallas Zoo is sharing pictures of its new baby African elephant born Saturday night.
The newborn, as yet unnamed, was born to one of the five elephants the zoo rescued earlier this year from Swaziland.
“The little boy is small but very active and nursing and doing all the things that a little baby elephant should do,” said Zoo President Gregg Hudson. “We’re going to let (the mother) get her strength back and get them bonded together and then hopefully, sometime this summer, we’ll have them out here on exhibit,” he added.
The calf is small, possibly due to the herds malnourished state in Africa that led to their rescue. He's three-feet tall with a foot-long trunk.
