MESQUITE, Texas — Two people were killed after their car crashed into a tree at high speed and caught fire in Mesquite this week, police say.

Police say a Toyota Camry hit a curb at high speed shortly before 3 a.m. in the 2900 block of North Town East Blvd. Sunday, lost control and hit a tree in the center median before catching fire.

After the fire was extinguished, officers found two people dead in the car, police said. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the two who were killed.
