FORT WORTH, Texas — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Fort Worth District announced a new study Wednesday that's aimed at improving recreation facilities at Lavon Lake.
According to USACE officials, the study will focus on developing a strategic plan to enhance recreational options in the area.
The initiative will explore solutions such as optimizing internal operations, creating partnerships with local municipalities, and pursuing potential leases with other government agencies at the local, county, and state levels.
USACE said it will conduct a detailed analysis to identify opportunities for improving parks, factoring in both current and projected future funding.
Starting this week, USACE said it also initiated discussions with local municipalities, Collin County, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. These discussions are intended to foster partnerships and consider leasing arrangements to increase local involvement and ensure parks remain valuable community resources, according to USACE officials.
“We understand the importance of this study and are mindful of the potential impacts these decisions may have on local businesses and the community,” Lavon Lake manager Michael Kinard said. “Public feedback is important, and we encourage everyone to share your thoughts with us, your local officials, or both.”
The public is encouraged to provide comments on the study here.
