PLANO, Texas — Plano police and the community are mourning the loss of one of the department's retired officers.
The Plano Police Department shared on social media Tuesday that retired officer David Tilley, who served the community for 24 years, had passed away.
"The family has permitted us to share this tragic news, and they are understandably devastated by this unexpected loss," the department said in its post. "David was not only a devoted husband and loving father but also a cherished friend and admirable officer with an unwavering commitment to his family and the community he served."
Tilley was one of Plano police's longest-serving Public Information Officers, advocating for Community Outreach initiatives and establishing the department’s social media presence to enhance public engagement.
"Officer David Tilley's memory will continue to live on, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him," the department concluded in its statement.
