PLANO, Texas — The Plano ISD Board of Trustees has approved an interlocal agreement with the city of Plano to discuss the possible sale of three school properties.

This comes after a resolution in October declaring the three properties as surplus -- Armstrong Middle School, Davis Elementary School and Forman Elementary School -- and authorizing the start of the sale process.

This agreement outlines the framework for both entities working toward the purchase, including the city offering a price for each property determined by an appraiser, and negotiating in good faith.

Plano ISD would also undertake the demolition of each of the structures prior to any sale, the district said.

“This agreement represents a significant step in our process of responsibly managing district resources. It ensures that these properties will continue to serve our community while upholding neighborhood integrity,” said Plano ISD Board President Nancy Humphrey in a statement. “We appreciate the City of Plano’s collaboration in this endeavor.”

The agreement will last one year with an intended closing date of Aug. 31, 2025, for any possible sales. It does not obligate Plano ISD to accept any offer from the city nor prevent the city from withdrawing any offers.

“We are deeply grateful for our partnership with the City, which is built on a shared vision to preserve the integrity of our neighborhoods for the benefit of our families," Plano ISD Superintendent Theresa Williams said in a statement. "For over a century, the City and school district have grown together. Today this partnership continues as we walk side-by-side to rightsize our footprint and shape a shared vision for the future.”

The city of Plano will consider the agreement on Oct. 28.
