DALLAS — Children's Health has opened its new 40,000-square-foot pediatric transportation hangar, the first of its kind at Dallas Love Field Airport.
According to Children's Health, the hangar was designed to improve the speed and efficiency of the transport team. To do this, the hangar will hold one jet, one helicopter, 12 ground ambulances, four behavioral health vehicles and more.
Each of these vehicles has specialized equipment for critical care needs such as nitric oxide, high-frequency ventilation, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and therapeutic cooling of the neonate.
Children's Health said this hangar will allow easier transport for family members wanting to accompany patients.
In addition, Children's Health said this new facility will make travel faster for an infectious disease response team, critical care nurses, registered respiratory therapists and paramedic teams.
