CAMPBELL, Texas — Three people died in a major crash on Interstate 30 just east of Greenville on Thursday night.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said troopers were dispatched at approximately 8:30 p.m. Thursday to the crash, which happened approximately a mile from Campbell, a small town with a population just over 600 people. DPS said preliminary information indicated that a semi-truck was traveling westbound on I-30 when a two-door passenger vehicle pulled from the shoulder in front of it. This caused the semi-truck to lose control and veer into the eastbound lanes, DPS said.

DPS said the driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

There were three people in the passenger vehicle, who were all pronounced dead at the scene, according to DPS officials.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing and there was not any further information available.
