BURLESON -- Burleson High School and Centennial High School have both been placed in lockdown mode over a student threat.

The City of Burleson said on its Facebook page Monday morning that an ex-Centennial High School student made a vague threat toward a current student.

The Burleson Police Department is working with the district to investigate the threat. Additional officers have also been placed at both campuses, the district said in a statement on its website.

"Please know that students are safe here at school, security is tight, and we will continue to keep you up to date. Police have requested that parents refrain from coming to the campus in order to allow them to best maintain a secure environment," the district wrote.

"Lockdown mode" means all students will remain in their current classrooms and all doors have been locked.

Burleson School District Superintendent Dr. Bret Jimerson emphasized in a statement to parents that students are safe and the district is working with the Granbury Police Department to locate the former student who made the threat.

Outside visitors are not allowed at either school while they are under lockdown.
