MESQUITE, Texas — A "boil water" notice for customers of the Markout Water Supply system in Kaufman County has been lifted.
Mesquite city officials around 1 p.m. Thursday announced that service had been restored to impacted customers and the notice was lifted.
Just before 2 p.m. Tuesday, a utility contractor hit a water line on FM 548 in Forney causing the system to drop below 20psi, the city said in a news release. The City’s Markout pump station remained in service during the disruption.
According to Markout's website, the company covers approximately 6,000 acres of south Forney and provides drinking water to nearly 1,100 residents.
When under a boil water advisory, you should only use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking and brushing your teeth, according to the CDC.
Additionally, you shouldn't use water from any appliances that are connected to the water line. For instance, using your ice and water machines connected to your refrigerator. However, it is safe to wash your laundry as usual.
