DALLAS — After what was initially described as a "slight medical incident," Bishop T.D. Jakes revealed more about what happened after freezing during a sermon.
During Sunday's service at The Potter's House, Bishop Jakes addressed his congregation via video call. During his address, he revealed after the incident, he was rushed to the intensive car unit, where he underwent emergency surgery.
"Many of you don't realize that you're looking at a miracle," Bishop Jakes said to thunderous applause. "I faced a life-threatening calamity, was rushed to the ICU unit. I had emergency surgery, survived this surgery. Yeah, I'm back."
"I'm grateful to God for His goodness and His mercy..." Jakes said.
Information surrounding what exactly happened to Bishop Jakes has been limited. In a post to his X account, Jakes, who leads a congregation of more than 30,000 at The Potter's House Church, said he did not have a stroke and that he is working on resting so that he can return to full health.
In the address, Bishop Jakes also revealed more about his recovery process.
"I'm trying to be obedient to what the doctor said to do in terms of just taking a few weeks to just heal and recover and relax and just reflect," Jakes said during the Sunday service. "But I'm in good spirits, I feel good, I'm in no pain, I'm in peace and tranquility, and I want you to know that I can feel your prayers."
