DALLAS — A baseball simulator "eatertainment" concept is coming to North Texas.
Think TopGolf but for baseball.
Batbox in a press release Tuesday announced plans to open up a location in Addison, its first in the U.S. The company hasn't released an address for the 13,000-square-foot sports bar – which will include 10 baseball simulators and food and drink service – but plans call for it to be open by early 2025.
Batbox started in Mexico in 2019 but recently closed on a $7.3 million Series A funding round that will help it expand in the U.S., with plans for over 25 locations "in major baseball markets," including North Texas, Houston and Boston, the release said.
Batbox locations use the company's Strikezon baseball simulator technology, allowing guests to play in various challenges, including multi-inning games, home run derbies and pitching. The simulator bays will be big enough for up to 18 players.
"Our immersive simulators and high-quality service have made Batbox a popular destination across Mexico, with a growing number of locations showcasing our ability to attract diverse audiences and create memorable experiences," Jose Vargas, Founder and CEO of Batbox, said in the release. "This success is a testament to our innovative approach and our commitment to delivering excellence."
North Texas has become a hotbed of sorts for the eatertainment concept. TopGolf was started in Dallas, and Drive Shack, another golf simulator company, is headquartered here.
There's also an array of different eatertainment locations in North Texas, including the Tiger Woods-branded PopStroke and Puttery both in The Colony, PuttShack in Addison, the planned Toca Social soccer venue in The Colony and the Goodsurf surfing bar in Deep Ellum, among others.
